I hated Vampire Weekend after their first couple of videos -- their style just wasn't connecting with me. But after hearing Oxford Comma, I decided to give them another chance and got the whole album. I've listened to the damn thing about 100 times now. They really, really grew on me.

I also love those first two singles now, too.

Oh yeah, and I've been careful about my intake of Vampire Weekend. I bought that album and listened to it like five time a day. So damn catchy and good, but I was afraid of an overdose and put it away for like a month or so before going back. I hate ruining a record from overplay.

Reminds me more of Godard than Anderson. I know that Wes was greatly inspired by Godard, but just seems more like the source to me.

I'm having the same confusing response as you guys. I'm tired of Anderson rip-offs. I'm kind of tired of Anderson himself. I'm really not that impressed by Vampire Weekend, but this works for some unidentifiable reason. The video does a great job of capturing and highlighting the nuance and drama of the song that I'd otherwise missed (or ignored).

Yeah, it's certainly not original. But I can't help but get a kick out of it.

But you know ... the more I think about it, the more it annoys me that I'm giving them the credit for a look and feel that is no more theirs than my left arm. "Inspired by" is generous, to say the least.

It's still great, but not necessarily because of how rad they are. I dunno. They are so derivative; I think if I could get over that I might be able to shut up and try to enjoy it.
